Do Children Really Benefit from Music?

From the time our children have been infants we have always played music, one style or another, when they were awake, asleep, in the car or just because. The benefit from music has had amazing results on our children.

To this day the one thing that calms these teenage children is music – when they are going through their own personal turmoil these teens always resort to music to make themselves feel better or calm down. Sometimes it can be music of their choice and interest, while other times it is the healing music we speak of on this site.

The choice is always theirs but the one thing they continuously report back is, the healing music makes them feel more rested, clears their minds and brings them into balance with body and mind.

My two sons listen to two different types of music as they both have their preferences in style. Our oldest son listens to nature sounds combined with music, while our youngest son listens to all music usually an accompaniment of piano, harp, flute and guitar. Both boys report this leaves them with a good nights rest and feeling of comfort.

You can certainly tell by their personalities in the morning if they have slept without it, in fact it is to the point they want the music on as they can tell the difference themselves. The benefit from music in their lives is:

  • Improved sleeping patterns
  • Enhanced focus
  • Improved moods and energy
  • Improvement in appetite

There are other areas of their lives where they will be experimenting with this healing music therapy and over the coming days and months we will continue to monitor the effects of healing music on their health.
