Recently I had the pleasure attending a public speaking event in Halifax, NS. At the time of enrolling for this event
there was no way to know, two class mates from High School would be there. It had been fifteen years since I
seen Dave and Bruce, at first I didn’t recognize Bruce when I entered the lobby of the World Trade and Convention Center, but Dave, there was no way I could miss him as he hadn’t changed his looks barely at all. (A little less hair)
In our high school days Dave was very shy and withdrawn and when I found out he was going to be a key speaker it just about floored me. Dave, shy Dave from Nova Scotia was going to be the keynote speaker – WOW!
During the event I couldn’t help but wonder what happen to Dave – how did he transform his life to a point where he was an exceptional public speaker. Before anytime you would attempt to get Dave to speak, he would sweat and stutter just at the mere thought of it.
After the event came to a close we had a half hour to get together to catch up on old times and during our
conversation here is the story Dave told me, about how he was able to master the art of public speaking:
Are you interested in public speaking?
Do you have an overwhelming fear to speak in front of anyone especially large groups?
If so you need to hear Dave’s amazing story as he was so fearful in the past to talk in front of one person he would almost pass out.
What in the heck transformed Dave you might ask?
A few years back Dave’s boss sent him to a public speaking event, which was at a time in Dave’s life where he
was lacking a serious amount of interest in his current job.
One of the guest speakers got up and started telling his story of how he came to be a professional public speaker
and how he mastered persuasive speech ideas with relative ease and comfort. Dave listened intensely as this
sounded like his story, as to where he was at in his miserable job.
A few weeks after attending this seminar Dave started listening to a tape on mastering pursuasive speech ideas.
He quickly learned some very important techniques and mindset tricks to the trade – BUT – there was one more
thing which made his success – and that was MUSIC!
What in the world does music have to do with the art of public speaking?
Every day this guy would wake up listening to his style of healing music – this would help him to feel energized
and focused and throughout the day he would use musical techniques taught to him by his mentor. At first the
skeptical and cynical Dave would emerge but the new Dave would push the skeptical and cynical person away, until one day it all came together. The results were amazing.
There is more to Daves story than can be told here therefore in the interest of time we will save this type of information for our mentoring classes. The next available class is coming up March 15th and we have 8 spots available – we may have two available spots for February 15th, 2009.
In the healing music business we continue to meet alot of interesting people as well as are privy to amazing stories where music has been such a huge inspiration in a lot of peoples lives, not just any music but music that heals the body and mind bringing both into Harmonic Alignment.
